Fajarasia.co – Chairman of the National Mandate Party (PAN) Zulkifli Hasan has been appointed by President Joko Widodo as Minister of Trade, replacing Muhammad Lutfi.
The inauguration took place at the State Palace, Wednesday (15/6/2022) led by President Joko Widodo. The inauguration was also attended by the general chairman of the political parties supporting the government.
Before being sworn in as Minister of Trade, the man who is familiarly called Zulhas served as Chairman of the Indonesian People’s Consultative Assembly for the 2014-2019 period. Then, also as Deputy Chair of the Indonesian People’s Consultative Assembly for the period 2019-2024.
In addition, Zulhas is also a member of the Indonesian House of Representatives from the Lampung 1 constituency for the 2004-2009 period.
Not only in the legislature, Zulhas also served as Minister of Forestry, during the era of President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono for the 2009-2014 period.
Zulhas is also a successful entrepreneur. Citing Wikipedia, the list of companies founded by Zulkifli Hasan include PT Batin Eka Perkasa, PT Panamas Mitra Inti Lestari, PT Sarana Bina Insani, PT Hudaya Safari Utama, and PT Batin Eka Perkasa.
In terms of education, Zulhas has received two honorary doctorates (Honoris Causa), namely in the field of Public Administration from Sejong University Seoul, South Korea, and the second, in the field of Human Resource Management (HR) from Semarang State University.
Zulhas completed his high school education at SMA Negeri 53 Jakarta in 1982. Subsequently, he took an undergraduate program at the Faculty of Economics, Krisnadwipayana University and received his Bachelor of Economics degree in 1996.
He then took a postgraduate program at the PPM College of Management and received a Masters in Management in 2003.***
