Fajarasia.co – Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan said that the development of the National Capital City (IKN) of the Archipelago will be of interest to the younger generation.
According to Luhut, the form of IKN will not be inferior to the development of the modern city of Neom in Saudi Arabia, Dubai in the United Arab Emirates, and Shenzhen in China.
“IKN will be a ‘world-class city for all’. Many parties have respected our concept of building a new capital city,” said Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan during the 60th Anniversary of the Christian Youth Movement. Indonesia (GAMKI), which was held in Balikpapan, Saturday (21/5/2022).
Luhut said that the current IKN development has attracted many foreign investors.
“I have met Mohammed Bin Salman, the Crown Prince of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, who stated that he would invest very heavily. In addition, the United Arab Emirates through the Indonesian Investment Fund is also preparing an investment of 20 billion US dollars,” he said.
In addition, he also explained how the process of moving the main offices of the central government from Jakarta to IKN Nusantara which is located in North Penajam Paser Regency and Kutai Kartanegara Regency, East Kalimantan.
According to him, the transfer is expected to be completed in the second quarter of 2024.
Furthermore, Luhut said, currently Indonesia’s development is much more evenly distributed. In addition to being the location for IKN development, now many new industries are growing in Kalimantan, such as the development of a new energy industry in North Kalimantan.
“Investments that used to be centered on Java and Sumatra are now spread to other areas, including Kalimantan. This is where youth, including GAMKI, must play their role, because there are so many job opportunities and MSME programs are wide open,” he said. ***
