Fajarasia.co – The Indonesian government through the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) is taking serious steps to package the right policies to accommodate and encourage industry to implement energy efficiency.
Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Arifin Tasrif said that several energy efficiency programs have been implemented by the government, starting from the power generation sector, implementing energy management systems for office buildings, airports, industry, electric motor conversion programs in the transportation sector and installing household gas networks.
“The government is also increasing the efficiency of electronic equipment as well as increasing industrial development. We believe that energy efficiency and the industrial ecosystem are part of the engine of our economic growth,” said Arifin in a statement in Jakarta, received by the Editor, Friday (10/6/2022).
The Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources considers the energy management system to be the most effective energy efficiency policy in Indonesia, one of the efforts made is through the application of the Energy Conservation Information System (Sinergi) for the industrial sector.
The Synergy application is a one stop shop to provide convenience for all energy users to access information related to energy conservation and energy efficiency which is expected to be a source of information for anyone who wants to implement energy efficiency and energy conservation measures in industry, buildings, transportation. as well as in the household.
Minister Arifin said that increasing public awareness and participation, as well as global awareness was an effort to face the challenges of implementing energy efficiency in Indonesia.
According to him, the implementation of energy efficiency is in line with the energy transition program. This is at the same time used to increase industrial productivity and competitiveness because the greater the effort to make the energy transition, the more efficient the use of energy will be.
“This is a global step which is a common goal and requires the support of all parties, not only the government but also stakeholders, the private sector, industry, and the community,” said Arifin.
The government has set a target of reducing final energy consumption by 17 percent by 2025 and reducing energy intensity by 1.0 percent per year until 2025.
In addition, there is a large potential for energy savings ranging from 10 percent to 30 percent in the industrial, transportation, commercial and household sectors.*****
