Fajarasia.co – Yamaha Factory Racing racer, Fabio Quartararo revealed that he felt he had experienced a big improvement this season compared to 2021, although not quite consistently.
Fabio Quartararo feels his progress as a racer is very big this season, even though the Yamaha YZR-M1 has not experienced a significant improvement. This allows it to stay at the forefront of all the limitations of its package.
“Of course, it’s not easy to finish first in race one and finish second in another because I have great rivals,” he said.
“The best thing is to try to stay consistent. Obviously I struggle, because I feel always at the limit, but I feel really good on the bike.”
“It’s similar to last year. I’m riding at the best level and I’m more confident than last season.”
“I feel an improvement every time I’m on the bike. Every weekend I feel I ride the bike better and I understand better how to be faster and more consistent.”
“As a racer, I have improved significantly.”
Fabio Quartararo insists he doesn’t want to complain much with what he currently has. Realizing he doesn’t have the strength on the straights, but he likes to have the advantage in the corners.
The 23-year-old racer will make good use of this, even though he has to take big risks in every race.
“Mgello and Barcelona are two very difficult tracks for us, especially because there are long straights. But I know we have a good bike in the corners, we can be very fast there.”
“At Mugello I didn’t win, I felt a little bit faster, but in acceleration and top speed, you lose.”
“In Barcelona, I felt I would fall behind at top speed but no, I don’t think the bike is too bad.
“In Mugello, the engine speed of our bike was very low, and in Montmelo it was much better.”
Facing the next race, Fabio Quartararo admitted that he was very ready to fight for victory again in order to maintain his position at the top of the standings.
“I know I have to prepare very well in Germany and Assen, those are two circuits we are friendly with. At the Sachsenring it was a little bit more difficult, but we are ready to fight and obviously I want to win.”
Despite not showing consistent performance as in MotoGP 2021, Quartararo currently leads the standings this season. In total El Diablo has taken five podiums, including two wins in Portugal and Catalunya.*
