Fajarasia.co – Indonesian Ambassador to Timor Leste in Dili Okto Dorinus Manik said that East Timorese businessmen and citizens asked the Indonesian government to waiver entry visas to Indonesia.
“They asked that visa-freedom be applied to citizens of that country, such as visa-free for Indonesians who want to enter Timor Leste,” Okto Dorinus Manik said in Oecusse, which is now known as RAEOA of the enclave of Timor Leste, Sunday.
Okto brought this up at a leading business and investment forum on the borders of Indonesia and Timor Leste with the theme Towards a Superior Border to commemorate the 20th anniversary of bilateral relations between Indonesia and Timor Leste.
In addition, in the discussion forum, entrepreneurs asked that trucks originating from Timor Leste still be allowed to enter Indonesian territory, such as the policy of trucks carrying export goods into Timor Leste.
However, according to Okto, this will become a joint recommendation that will be followed up at the central level.
“In this business forum, many strategic issues and inputs have been made into a recommendation that will be followed up immediately,” he said.
In addition, in the forum there were also many suggestions in the form of reuse of cross-border passes and many things that needed to be revised during the 20 years of bilateral relations between Indonesia and Timor Leste which would make it easier for business actors to do business and invest.
Okto was satisfied with the activities initiated by them because from the meeting there were many things that were not known by the entrepreneurs of the two countries related to import-export regulations, especially from the Oecusse region and from Indonesia.
“In fact, it has been made easier online, especially policies from Indonesia. Now, in this forum everything is revealed,” he said again.
Timor Leste’s Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Joaquim Amaral said that the meeting yielded positive results.
However, his party will also improve existing regulations to make it easier for entrepreneurs from Timor Leste to invest in Indonesia.
“Recommendations that have been made from the forum have been well recorded by the government of Timor Leste, such as those related to licensing difficulties, work visas, coordination will soon be carried out so that services in both countries are getting better,” he said.****
