Dr. Salim Affirms that PKS is Ready to Fight for the Welfare of Farmers

Fajarasia.co – Chairman of the PKS Shura Council, Dr. Salim Segaf Aljufri greets the people of Central Java in a series of “Dr. Salim Greet Indonesia Program”. One of the agendas was held “Best Breeders with Dr. Salim”, Thursday 23/6/2022.

Present at this event were the Chairman of the PKS Fraction of the DPR Jazuli Juwaini, the Chairman of BPW PKS Jatijaya Abdul Fikri Fakih, Members of the DPR RI Central Java Buchori Yusuf and Hamid Noor Yasin, members of the Provincial DPRD, Regency / City, Chairman of the Central Java PKS DPW Muhammad Haris and the ranks of the DPTW joined the group. Central Java breeders. Also present were giving remarks on behalf of the Deputy Governor of Central Java, the Regional Secretary of Central Java Province, Sumarno.

In his remarks, the Secretary of the Central Java Province, Sumarno, thanked PKS for caring for Central Java breeders, including in providing counseling on mouth and nail disease (PMK) which is currently spreading. Sumarno also explained that the potential for livestock and food crops in Central Java could still be optimized.

Chairman of the PKS Shura Council, Dr. Salim and the ranks of the PKS on this occasion listened more to the aspirations and complaints of the farmers, especially the economic conditions and their farms that were affected by the PMK. They generally complain about the decline in production which has resulted in a drastic decrease in income. Meanwhile, medicines and handling of animal health are still very limited.

Responding to this, Dr. Salim said that his presence is a form of love and full support for farmers in Central Java. It is also a form of concern and sympathy for the calamities faced by farmers due to the FMD outbreak which has had a wide and serious impact.

Dr. Salim also emphasized the importance of food sovereignty as an inseparable part of the welfare of farmers and ranchers. “Our problem today is that we still often import food products. Even though we can meet these needs ourselves. Therefore, PKS will continue to struggle to realize not only food security but food sovereignty,” said Dr. Salim.

According to the RI Minister of Social Affairs for 2009-2014, if Indonesia can be sovereign in food commodities, we can solve many domestic problems. Our farmers and ranchers will prosper. “The potential is there. It’s just a matter of seriousness and the state’s alignment with farmers and ranchers,” he said.

Dr. Salim expressed his concern over the FMD outbreak that eroded the economy of farmers in Central Java. Based on the confession of a number of farmers, since the outbreak of the epidemic, their income has dropped drastically from 2 million per month to almost no income. Cow’s milk production has been drastically reduced to 50 percent and it doesn’t even come out at all. Cows that are prepared to be sold during Eid al-Adha are also almost non-existent because the cows are sick and thin. Now they actually have a debt to the tofu factory for animal feed. From the aspirations expressed, they need assistance with cows, capital, medicines, vitamins, feed, cages, basic necessities, etc.

Dr. Salim immediately responded to these aspirations and affirmed PKS’ commitment to help them. “I ordered PKS faction members from the center to the regions to all out to advocate, provide assistance, and provide assistance to them. Look for a quick assistance program to help because some of them have no income at all,” he said.

At the end of the event Dr. Salim handed over a package of assistance to the farmers while praying that the FMD outbreak could soon be overcome and farmers could return to normal in developing their businesses. PKS also conducts FMD treatment simulations by utilizing nano technology (nanotechnology).*****
