Fajarasia.co – Chairman of Commission I of the House of Representatives (DPR) RI Meutya Hafid emphasized that television content must pay attention to broadcasting signs contained in Law Number 32 of 2002 concerning Broadcasting.
“The purpose of television broadcasts in accordance with the Broadcasting Law is to strengthen national identity, shape the character of a nation of faith, educate the nation, promote general welfare in order to build an independent, prosperous Indonesian society and promote broadcasting,” said Meutya in Yogyakarta, Sunday.
Therefore, Meutya, in a press conference after attending the opening of the Indonesian Broadcasting Conference which was held by the Central Indonesian Broadcasting Commission (KPI) at UIN Sunan Kalijaga Yogyakarta, hoped that television broadcasts would refer to the signs mandated by the Broadcasting Law.
He said that in the future with the regulation of digital television broadcasts, digital television broadcasts will also grow, so that his party hopes that KPI as the controller of television broadcasts will involve more universities in observing and controlling television broadcasts.
“Community literacy cooperation between KPI and universities is highly expected in an effort to produce quality television content and fill internet spaces with good and constructive content,” he said.
According to him, KPI needs to make efforts to improve broadcasts based on the results of research conducted by universities.
Furthermore, Meutya invites rectors throughout Indonesia to care about the quality of television broadcasts through their involvement in research and dissemination of research to the public, as an effort to build public literacy on the quality of television content, internet spaces, and social media.
“I respect the Rector of UIN Sunan Kalijaga Yogyakarta who is sociable and fun, who can embrace many elements of society to build media literacy. This needs to be transmitted to other rectors,” he said.
Meanwhile, the Chairman of the Committee Tariq Yasid said the conference, which was held from 22 to 24 May 2022 and supported by the Yogyakarta Special Region KPID (DIY), took the theme “Creating Communication and Broadcasting Media Based on Ethics, Morals, and Humanity towards a New Civilization”.
“The Indonesian Broadcasting Conference was held to welcome the era of digital broadcasting and in order to build good broadcasting ethics, in order to create a more civilized society,” he said.****
