Djokovic ready to help his son follow in his footsteps

Fajarasia.co – Novak Djokovic has said he will do everything he can to support his son Stefan if he decides to follow in his footsteps, but the Serb wants to make sure his seven-year-old son doesn’t feel pressured to pursue a career in tennis.

Footage of the 20-time Grand Slam winner training with his son went viral on social media earlier this week and Djokovic also posted photos of them hitting their forehands on Twitter, captioning “so cool to see this.”

In May, Djokovic said his son had won his first tournament on the same day he won the Italian Open, describing their success as “twin suns.”

“I try to use every opportunity I get… to play with him because he is now completely immersed in tennis,” Djokovic said.

“Everything about tennis, how he can play, he watches, he analyzes. I will support him in any way I can so that he can become a professional tennis player… if he really wants to.”

“But it’s too early to talk about it, to be honest. He’s not even eight years old yet. It’s important to me that we have a father-son relationship… before anything else, and he’s enjoying life.”

Djokovic also said it was important that his son was familiarized with various sports.

“I feel it’s really important to have, especially at this young age, a lot of stimulus to kids from different perspectives and different sports and different movements, different activities,” said Djokovic.

Six-time Wimbledon champion Djokovic will face Italian 10th seed Jannik Sinner in the quarter-finals.****
