Fajarasia.co – The Minister of Defense (Menhan), Prabowo Subianto, emphasized that Indonesia will uphold a free and active foreign policy and maintain Southeast Asia as a peaceful, free and neutral region. These four things are contained in the spirit of the Declaration of Zone of Peace Freedom and Neutrally (ZOPFAN).
This was conveyed by Prabowo to the Chinese Minister of Defense General Wei Fenghe during a bilateral meeting, Friday (10/6/2022) in Singapore.
The meeting discussed various issues, ranging from the handling of Covid-19, the ongoing cooperation between the two countries in the defense sector, and the latest issues related to global security.
“This meeting is proof of the good defense cooperation relationship between the two countries. Hopefully, the cooperation and friendship between Indonesia and China can be maintained with the spirit of brotherhood and the principle of mutual respect,” Prabowo said in a press statement received by the Editors, Sunday (12/6/2022).
He expressed his appreciation and gratitude for China’s assistance in sending equipment for handling Covid-19 in Indonesia.
“We have distributed aid to the Ministry of Defense and TNI hospitals,” Prabowo said.
The Minister of Defense expressed hope that China can participate in the success of the G20 event which will be held in Indonesia. In the agenda as many as 20 countries with the largest economies will discuss various problems and challenges of the world in the future.
The second meeting is one of Prabowo’s agenda during a working visit to Singapore to speak at the International Institute for Strategic Studies (IISS) Shangri-La Dialogue 2022.
