Fajarasia.co – China will speed up the formulation of a law (UU) protecting agricultural land, a further step to protect agricultural land in the country, China’s Ministry of Natural Resources said.
Pre-existing regulations, such as a ban on the transfer of arable land for non-agricultural purposes, will be upgraded to become law, the ministry said.
China has always adhered to the strictest agricultural land protection system, while trying to ensure its agricultural land area remains above the 120 million hectare boundary line.
At the end of 2019, China had a total of 128 million hectares of agricultural land, according to a national land survey.
By 2022, the country will develop 6.67 million hectares of high-standard agricultural land, promote various national projects related to black soil protection, and launch a third national census of soil conditions, said Central Document No. 1 which was released last February. ****
