Fajarasia.co – A Brimob member who served in the Brimob Company Battalion D Wamena on behalf of Brigadier Diego Rumaropen, was found dead from sharp weapons injuries by an unknown person (OTK), in Napua district, Jayawijaya regency, Saturday (18/6) .
Based on available data, the incident occurred when the victim accompanied his superior, AKP Rustam, to hunt in Napua. At that time, both of them were carrying organic police firearms, type AK 101 and Sniper Steyr.
Arriving at the location, AKP Rustam then checked his prey. But before that, the person concerned left his weapon with Brigadier Diego Diego.
When he returned, AKP Rustam had found Brigadier Diego dead from a number of sharp weapons injuries. Meanwhile, 2 firearms were missing and were taken by the perpetrators of the stabbing.
For this incident, the Papuan Police Chief Inspector General Pol Mathius Fakhiri said his party would take decisive and measured steps to obtain the identity of the perpetrators, as well as recover the 2 firearms seized by OTK.
“32 of my police reinforcements have moved to Jayawijaya Regency, which is directly led by the Papua Police Mobile Brigade Dansat. If there are no obstacles, Monday morning I along with a number of key Papuan Police officials will go to Jayawijaya to evaluate and determine the next police steps,” said the Kapolda, Sunday (19/06/2022).
The Kapolda added that he also deeply regrets the negligence of the system of members who are currently on assignment. So, this will also be an evaluation material, so that similar incidents do not happen again.
“I have said that every member of the National Police on duty in Papua Province, must implement a body system of at least 5 people for the vigilance and security of personnel while on duty,” he said.
Asked about the identity of the perpetrators, Fakhiri explained that until now his party is still in the process of being investigated.
Meanwhile, the Director of the General Criminal Investigation of the Papua Police, Kombes Pol. Faizal Ramadhani, explained that his party had examined 6 witnesses. This includes AKP Rustam, who is the superior of the Brigadier General Diego.****
