BP2MI Benny Rhamdani : The state cannot lose to PMI smugglers

Fajarasia.co – Head of the Indonesian Migrant Worker Protection Agency (BP2MI) Benny Rhamdani emphasized that the state should not lose to the Indonesian Migrant Worker smugglers (PMI) because these individuals have exploited humans.

“The state must not lose to these PMI smuggling syndicates. This is a big country, a legal state that has a large apparatus compared to the mafias. The state must prove that it cares for the nation’s children. We hope the law works,” said Benny in a release received Editor, Sunday (22/5/2022).

Benny Rhamdani’s working visit in Pekanbaru was to visit dozens of PMIs who failed to be smuggled into Malaysia and are currently living in the Protection House and Trauma Center (RPTC).

He said workers who were dispatched illegally were often mistreated and exploited because there was no contract to bind and protect them.

“Those who departed illegally will experience various forms of exploitation, sexual violence, unpaid salaries because they are not bound by any contact, traded from one employer to another. In fact, the nation’s children who work on the high seas, if they die His body was dumped in the middle of the sea,” said Benny.

He hoped that the authorities would not only punish the syndicates or take preventive measures, but also impoverish the perpetrators of these crimes.

According to him, prevention is not only raiding shelters and rescuing PMI, but can also deter syndicates by seizing things related to smuggling.

“We are not only punishing syndicates, but also how to impoverish them. If they are sent by sea by boats of tekongs, their boats are confiscated or drowned. If they have a business office for the dirty business, it will be confiscated by the state as an effort to impoverish them,” he said. .

According to Benny, working abroad is a citizen’s right and the state facilitates it. Working abroad is no longer necessary with capital to sell family assets, but the state has made it easier.

The government, he said, would make it easier for TKI to officially work abroad. The state will also provide provisions before prospective workers can work in the field.

“If it works procedurally, it will automatically be on the radar of state protection so that the state can provide protection from head to toe,” he said.

Benny appealed to the public not to believe in persuasion on behalf of any party with the lure of going abroad quickly and with a high salary. Basically, no one can go fast without training.

“Because what we send abroad quickly are those who have competence, skills and even language skills. All of that goes through training. Therefore, the state will 100 percent facilitate the needs of every prospective worker, even the financing,” said Benny.****
