Fajarasia.id – Cybercrime Directorate (Dittipidsiber) Bareskrim Polri is investigating a new fraudulent technique that uses a popular wedding invitation in the community.
According to Brigadier General Pol Adi Vivid A Bactiar, Director of Tipidsiber Bareskrim Polri, the mod is relatively new and different from his APK mod cheats that his party just discovered.
“Our team is still investigating new ways to use wedding invitations,” he confirmed to Vivid on Monday (January 30, 2023) in Jakarta.
Previously, Dittipidsiber Bareskrim Polri exposed fraud and illegal access crimes via Android Package Kit (APK) and phishing links.
The mode used by the perpetrators is to target specific bank customers and send messages containing parcel delivery receipts. “The fraudulent marriage invitation modus operandi is different from what was previously revealed by yesterday’s network, which targeted banks’ online facilities and focused on specific bank customers,” he said.
However, his party will investigate the incident and appeal to the public to report them to the nearest police if they become victims.
“I want all the victims to come forward as soon as possible so that they can receive prompt treatment,” he said.
The cheating disguised as a wedding invitation became popular in the community after one of his social media channels went viral with his Twitter tweet on Friday (1/27).
In the upload with the screenshot, the scammer seems to have sent his apk-formatted file with the names of the wedding invitations through his WhatsApp. The perpetrator then sent an instant message saying, “I wish he was there,” followed by:
