Fajarasia.co – Commissioner of the National Police Commission (Kompolnas), Albertus Wahyurudhanto, revealed that there are two main motives behind the weak police action against illegal mining, which has led to the burglary of mining concessions to this day.
It is known, an advocate who worked for the mining company PT Anzawara Satria was hacked to death while advocating against illegal mining in the Tanah Bumbu area, South Kalimantan on October 22, 2021.
For the stabbing, Jurani had to get intensive treatment at the hospital. After 13 days of treatment, Jurani was declared dead at Ciputra Hospital, Banjar Regency, South Kalimantan Province on November 3, 2021.
According to him, the motive for the rise of illegal mining is due to the lack of supervision by the Police of the ranks of members. Then the second motive, due to deliberate omission.
“When there is a violation of the law, the police must act. Why are there still many illegal mines, there are two possibilities. Police supervision is lacking on the performance of members, or is left alone because someone is enjoying it,” said Albertus through his official statement, Wednesday (25/5/2022). ).
For the first motive, he continued, Kompolnas will make improvements to the supervisory mechanism within the National Police. However, if it is found that there is an element of neglect of illegal mining, Kompolnas will give strict sanctions to the members involved.
“The work of Kompolnas is to supervise the duties of the police. If the problem is lack of supervision, the improvement is in the supervisory mechanism. But if it is deliberately maintained, we are not playing games. This is about professional ethics, we will not remain silent,” he explained.
Previously, the Director General of Mineral and Coal at the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, Ridwan Djamaluddin, said that weak enforcement by the authorities was the main reason for the rise of illegal mining. In fact, illegal miners dare to damage the police line, as happened to the Mining Business Permit (IUP) of PT Anzawara Satria in South Kalimantan.
This case has killed an advocate named Jarkani. The illegal mining activity in Anzawara has occurred since April last year until now.
“There are individuals who take coal from a legal IUP. Actions have been taken, however, it happened again and again, even the police line was not obeyed,” said Ridwan. *****
