Fajarasia.co – During her third working visit to West Java, the Chairperson of the Indonesian House of Representatives, Puan Maharani, visited Sumedang Regency. The residents prayed that Puan could become President.
The moment occurred during Puan’s dialogue with farmers and residents at the football field in Haurngombong Village, Sumedang, Friday (23/9/2022). About 3,000 local residents came to meet with Puan.
Puan’s presence was greeted with cheers from the residents. Many residents were scrambling to shake hands with the grandson of the Proclaimer of the Republic of Indonesia, Bung Karno.
“Mrs. president, Mrs. president, Mrs. president,” greeted the residents.
During the dialogue, Puan emphasized the importance of the agricultural sector to sustain life and the Indonesian economy. Haurngombong village itself is an agribusiness area with cilembu sweet potato as its icon.
“We want Indonesia to progress, so the agricultural sector must receive great attention,” said Puan.
The first woman to serve as Chair of the Indonesian House of Representatives said that agricultural progress is important to support food security in Indonesia. Even so, according to Puan, there are still a number of problems that need to be addressed to achieve food security.
“Food security does not only mean that our domestic food supply is sufficient, but also means that our farmers are productive and prosperous,” he said.
A number of residents who were present also expressed their aspirations to Puan. The majority of farmers also complained about the problems of fertilizers and distribution of agricultural products.
“Every year, on average, farmers experience the same problems, such as the availability of fertilizers and the sale of their crops. This is what we need to find a permanent solution for,” said Puan.
Puan then called the residents to go up on the stage. A resident named Mrs. Nok Romlah excitedly approached Puan and expressed her joy at being able to meet the number 1 person in the DPR.
“I want to meet Mbak Puan and give her aspirations,” said Romlah.
Puan teases whether Romlah knows her figure to be willing to come since morning. Romlah said he knew very well who Mrs.
“Mbak Puan is the chairman of the DPR, the daughter of Megawati and a candidate for president of Indonesia,” he said to the applause of the people present.
To Puan, Romlah then conveyed his aspirations on behalf of the women from the Women Farmers Group (KWT) of Haurngombong Village. They hope to use the HGU land (Hak Guna Usaha) to grow crops.
“Hopefully our area will get more attention. I pray that Mbak Puan will be successful and become president,” Romlah said while hugging Puan.
Puan promised to try to facilitate the hopes of the women farmers in Haurngombong Village. On that occasion, he also provided assistance in the form of rice seeds and corn seeds for 50 Ha each, as well as Cavendish banana seeds and sweet corn seeds for 30 Ha each.
After the dialogue, Puan went to a number of residents to talk directly. Many pray that Puan can become Indonesia’s leader in the future. Not a few also asked for a photo or selfie with Puan.
Puan then conducted an interview session with the media crew at the end of the event. The journalists asked for Puan’s response regarding the expectations of the people who wanted the PDI-P (PDIP) DPP chairman to become president.
“If anyone wants me to be president, yes, Alhamdulillah, but the nomination mechanism is with Mrs. Mega as the General Chair of the PDI-P of Struggle,” explained Puan.*****
