Fajarasia.co – The Indonesian National Police (Polri) has begun to prepare a plan to secure the implementation of the 2024 General Election and Pilkada, including the budget, number of personnel, as well as facilities and infrastructure.
“Of course the National Police will plan and prepare the budget, personnel, sarpras (facilities and infrastructure), how to act to anticipate potential disturbances in the implementation of the 2024 General Election and Regional Head Elections,” said Head of the Public Relations Division of the National Police Inspector General Pol Dedi Prasetyo, Tuesday (24/5). 2022).
This preparation, he said, was a follow-up to the results of a meeting between the National Police Chief Gen. Pol Listyo Sigit Prabowo and the Chairman of the Indonesian KPU Hasyim Asy’ari, along with his staff at the National Police Headquarters, Jakarta, last Monday.
According to him, each stage of the election, as stated by KPU members, has the potential to disrupt security and order in different communities, with different escalations.
For this reason, as stated by the National Police Chief, after hearings with members of the Indonesian KPU, the National Police need to prepare for securing the General Election and Regional Head Elections early.
“The goal is that all stages of the 2024 General Election, both presidential, legislative and regional elections can run safely, smoothly, democratically, and continue to apply health protocols,” said Dedi.
The former Central Kalimantan Regional Police Chief emphasized that the National Police will hold Operation Mantap Brata in stages, starting from the level of the National Police Headquarters, to the level of the Resort Police.
The Mantap Brata operation is in the context of securing the entire series of stages of the 2024 General Election. The timing of the operation was decided after a meeting with Commission II of the DPR RI, regarding the stages of the General Election.****
