Fajaraisa.co – The decision of the Honorary Court of the House of Representatives (MKD DPR RI) to stop the report against the Chairperson of the DPR RI, Puan Maharani, regarding the birthday surprise she received at the Plenary Meeting was deemed appropriate. Because the report is considered too far-fetched.
“Reports like that are too far-fetched, too thick with gimmicks, while the substance is almost non-existent. In fact, in my opinion, the report is more aimed at discrediting someone, rather than tracing allegations of ethical violations,” said Political Communications observer from the University of Indonesia (UI), Ari Junaedi, Tuesday (13/9/2022).
Ari explained that birthday surprises are often received by a leader of a ministry/state institution when working or chairing a meeting. The surprise was seen as a common expression of respect for leaders who interact and work together on a daily basis.
“But it seems that the House of Representatives has only questioned the birthday surprise. While in other institutions there is no question, because maybe other institutions are not as sexy as the DPR, yes, “he said.
Ari explained further, if the reporter had paid more attention to the substance before reporting, of course he would not have reported the birthday surprise incident on September 6, 2022.
“If, let’s say that there was an ethical violation in that incident, why did you report it? He was the one who received the surprise, not the one who planned it. Is it possible that if the reported person is not Puan, the reporter is worried that the report will not be sexy, it will not become a big issue in the media, “said Ari.
Furthermore, Ari reminded that national political tensions will be higher before the 2024 political contestation, so that political attacks have begun to be intensified. One of these attacks, said Ari, could be in the form of reports that are not substantive, but mention the names of political figures, so that they are considered to influence public perception of these figures.
“So the purpose of this report is not to open up the problem clearly, but report after report, that is, as long as it is published in the media, the reporter is satisfied. Because with the media coverage, the reporter has felt that he has succeeded in discrediting the person he reported,” he said.
However, said Ari, the public is getting smarter and smarter in seeing which reports are substantive, or in the case of the MKD DPR RI, which aims to reveal alleged violations of the code of ethics, or which only aim to bring down someone.
“The public is getting smarter, but it must continue to be educated so that reports like this don’t damage someone’s good name. That’s why the MKD DPR’s decision is right, which not only stops the report, but also rehabilitates the name of Puan Maharani,” he said.
As reported, the MKD of the DPR RI stopped a report against the Chairperson of the DPR RI, Puan Maharani, regarding a birthday surprise during a plenary meeting. The DPR MKD assessed that Puan did not celebrate her birthday during the DPR RI’s plenary meeting.
“The report against Puan Maharani A-188 from the PDI-P faction with register number 89/PP MKD/9/2022 cannot be followed up and the DPR RI Honorary Court has provided rehabilitation for the defendants,” said Deputy Chairperson of the DPR MKD Nazaruddin Dek Gam at the parliament complex, Senayan, Jakarta, Tuesday (13/9/2022).
The MKD DPR’s decision regarding the report to Puan Maharani is effective from the date of stipulation. This decision was made by the Chairman of the Constitutional Court, Aboe Bakar Al Habsyi. MKD DPR assessed that Puan Maharani did not celebrate her birthday during the plenary session. However, Puan received a happy birthday from her fellow DPR members.
“That the compatriot, the honorable Doctor Puan Maharani A-188, the PDI-P Faction, did not celebrate a birthday party in the plenary session on September 6, 2022. However, the contestants only received birthday wishes from fellow DPR members,” said Dek Gam.
“Because on the same day it can coincide with the birthday of the teradu,” he added.*****
