Fajarasia.co – DPR Speaker Puan Maharani is said to be one of the right candidates for the PDI-P (PDIP) in the upcoming 2024 presidential election. Apart from being the only priority figure in PDIP, Puan is also a supporter of the success of the Jokowi administration.
This was conveyed by the Executive Director of Indonesia Political Opinion (IPO) Dedi Kurnia Syah, to reporters, Jakarta, Sunday (24/7).
Dedi said, the success of KIP and KIS, Puan had a big role when she became Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture. Not only that, regarding the state’s financial stability in dealing with the pandemic, Puan is the chairman of the House of Representatives who produced the Law on Financial System Stability, with which the Indonesian economy will survive, as well as with social assistance throughout the pandemic based on the Act.
“Puan has a strategic position as chairman of the DPR RI, this is the most influential position on a par with the President, for these two reasons PDIP should not hesitate to stretch Puan,” said Dedi.
Although not explicitly mentioned for running for president, Puan has been assigned the PDIP Chairperson Megawati Soekarnoputri to meet with political party leaders. This is considered as a signal of Megawati’s blessing to Puan to run in the 2024 presidential election.
On that basis, Dedi conveyed, PDIP voters have a tendency to be loyal to the party, so that carrying Puan as a presidential candidate is not a wrong step.
“It can even be considered appropriate because the current symbol of PDIP is Puan, of course this is good because it will make the moral movement of cadres stronger in supporting their candidates. For that, reading Puan’s electability must also look at the electability of the party,” said Dedi.
Furthermore, Dedi is of the opinion that the benefits of carrying Puan are enormous for PDIP. This is because the party bearing the symbol of the white muzzle will be able to maintain internal solidity.
“Of course with that, PDIP has an internal unifying figure who has succeeded Megawati, who has proven to be strong so far, with this solidity it is possible for PDIP to win again. So far, there has been minimal imagery that involves her directly, in fact we have never seen Puan involve her family in building her personal image, unlike other politicians who seem to do everything for the sake of image, you don’t look like that,” concluded Dedi.
Puan’s track record that has been completed with leadership includes: Chairperson of the PDI-P Faction in the opposition era, Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture from 2014-2019 and now Chair of the Indonesian House of Representatives. A number of PDIP elites believe that in Puan’s blood flows the spirit of leadership. Also, the party assignments given to Puan are always complete and successful. One of them, became chairman of the winning Ganjar Pranowo in the 2013 Central Java gubernatorial election.
