Fajarasia.co – The Russian frigate Admiral Gorshkov on Saturday (28/5) successfully test-fired a hypersonic cruise missile Tsirkon from the Barents Sea, the Russian Defense Ministry said.
The missile hit a target that was at sea about 1,000 km away in the White Sea and the projectile’s flight was within the planned parameters, the ministry added.
The Tsirkon missile has been tested several times from the frigate Admiral Gorshkov and a nuclear-powered submarine.
Russian President Vladimir Putin said the Tsirkon missile is capable of flying at Mach 9, or nine times the speed of sound, and hitting targets more than 1,000 km away. *****
