He asked all interested parties to control internal conflicts well, if necessary the role of the Religious Harmony Forum (FKUB) should be increased, considering its extraordinary role in managing conflicts there.
“And we hope that this does not spread and it turns out that after we check it is not SARA, of course it is agreed with all interested parties, both the FKUB and the police and security forces and entering the Regional Government. Only if it is not controlled properly maybe in the future it will become an SARA issue and that’s what we need to control going forward,” he said in Lombok, West Nusa Tenggara, Monday (23/05/2022).
In addition, the Ministry of Religion’s program with religious moderation, according to this Golkar politician, must continue to be developed in the future, especially in order to assist organizations whose tasks in the field are to coordinate and synchronize the people, such as the FKUB Forum for Religious Communication.
“What was conveyed was that the funds that were assisted were only around sixty million a year, and from the provincial government fifty million from the district fifty million, the center sixty million. And if we look at the function played by the Chair of the FKUB earlier it was extraordinary, and Therefore, in our opinion, in the context of moderation of religious communities, in the future, FKUB will be played, improved, and includes additional funds assisted by the central government,” he explained.
Hasan Basri hopes that in the future the implementation of the religious moderation program is not only within the Ministry of Religion, but all interested parties in terms of protecting the community must be explained in such a way as FKUB, Ulema Council, and so on.
“That is what we hope for in the future. That is one of the points that we concluded from Commission VIII increasing the FKUB budget, including the role or study of religious moderation in the future, it needs to be disseminated and increased. All interested parties, if indeed in terms of personal expense funds That’s what we help, then also the situation on the ground that needs to be improved in the future, I think that’s the most important thing,” he said.
Meanwhile, Member of Commission VIII of the Indonesian House of Representatives, Rachmat Hidayat, who is in the constituency of NTB II, admitted that he was surprised by the widespread news on social media that the incident in West Lombok was a racial problem.
According to him, there were no fights or riots between religions in NTB II, which took place in 1980 and even then in Sumbawa, that’s all there were inter-ethnic and religious riots, especially those between Hinduism, Bali and Islam.
“There is social jealousy and there are murders if it happened there and twice in 2013 it happened like that. In 2000, riots against Christians happened, so it was a hoax. If this is what happened in West Lombok, there is no SARA. (Pure) no. So people are of the same ethnicity, same ancestors, just different religions,” he explained while hoping that this incident would not need to be repeated.
