Fajarasia.co – The chairman of the Indonesian House of Representatives, Puan Maharani, will be awarded an honorary doctorate in Political Science from Pukyong National University (PKNU) South Korea.
This was stated by the Deputy Chair of Commission X DPR RI, the PDIP Faction, Agustina Wilujeng, when receiving a visit from the President of Pukyong National University, Dr. Young-Soo Jang, in the meeting room of the Chairman of the DPR, Parliament Complex, Senayan, Jakarta, Wednesday (13/7/2022).
“Today’s meeting conveyed an application for the Chairperson of the DPR to accept the honoris causa degree in the field of political science. Later we will receive the letter and then it will be analyzed by the team and we will reply to the letter to Pukyong National University,” said Agustina.
Meanwhile, President of Pukyong National University Dr. Young-Soo Jang revealed that his party paid a lot of attention to gender equality or genre equality.
On that basis, the reason PKNU will award the honoris causa title to Puan Maharani is because of her contribution to thinking and her achievements now as the first woman as Chair of the Indonesian House of Representatives.
Young-Soo Jang hopes that giving the title to Puan Maharani will inspire women to be able to play more roles in politics.
“The reason we confer this honor on the chairwoman is about her contribution of thoughts, and also her achievement as the first woman speaker of the House Representatives, DPR RI,” he said.
“So, through Mrs. Puan’s achievements and dedication, we hope that women both in Indonesia and Korea can be inspired,” he said.****
