Fajarasia.co – The PDI-P (PDIP) vote in the 2019 General Election has met the presidential nomination threshold. Therefore, the chairman of the DPR RI as well as the chairman of the PDIP DPP Puan Maharani stated that his party was ready to have its own presidential candidate in the 2024 presidential election.
“PDI-P has its own ticket, that’s enough. The voice of the PDI-P has also been able to advance,” said Puan.
This was conveyed by Puan when answering questions from the media crew after planting rice and having a dialogue with farmers in the Medium Customary Village, Abiansamel, Badung, Bali, Wednesday (28/9/2022).
Based on Law Number 7 of 2017 concerning General Elections, pairs of presidential and vice presidential candidates are proposed by political parties or coalitions of political parties participating in the general election who meet the requirements for obtaining seats of at least 20 percent of the total number of DPR seats or obtaining 25 percent of valid votes nationally. in the previous election.
In the 2019 Pileg, PDIP managed to get 27,503,961 votes which were then converted into 128 seats in the Indonesian House of Representatives. The number of PDIP seats in the DPR is more than 20 percent, which is a requirement for the presidential candidate threshold.
Therefore, according to Puan, PDIP is ready to have a presidential candidate. Even without having a coalition with other parties, PDIP is able to nominate its own pair of presidential and vice presidential candidates.
“Of course, according to the number of votes, PDIP is ready to have a presidential candidate,” said Puan.
Even so, it does not mean that PDIP will not cooperate with other parties in the upcoming presidential election. Puan said, PDIP opens space for any party to form a coalition if they have the same vision and mission.
“PDI-P is a party that is ready to communicate, open space and stay in touch. Hopefully, in time, there will be friends to work together towards 2024,” said the first woman who served as Chair of the Indonesian House of Representatives.
Puan herself received an assignment from the PDIP Chairperson Megawati Soekarnoputri to go on a political safari to meet party leaders. He has held meetings with NasDem chairman Surya Paloh, Gerindra chairman Prabowo Subianto, and PKB chairman Muhaimin Iskandar (Cak Imin).
Even Cak Imin has hinted that he is ready to become Puan’s companion as his deputy, if Bung Karno’s grandson gets a mandate from PDIP to run as a presidential candidate.
“Yes, it’s all ready to be able to take part in the 2024 contest. We pray that everyone is ready to move forward,” said Puan.
When asked whether she already had a candidate for her companion, Puan stated that she already had her views.
“God willing, we have it,” concluded the former Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture.****
