Fajarasia.co – A number of journalist organizations in South Sulawesi (South Sulawesi) through the South Sulawesi Press Freedom Coalition have officially submitted a statement of support for the six media that were being sued civilly at the Makassar District Court (PN).
Statements of attitude signed by a number of journalist organizations including PWI, IWO, PJI, IJTI, AMSI and SMSI were handed over directly to Upi Asmaradana, who was specially sent by the South Sulawesi Press Freedom Coalition to Jakarta.
Apart from Upi, the KKJ Journalists Safety Committee Coordinator Erick Tanjung, Mustafa LBH Pers Jakarta, Nurina Savitry, Karina Maharani T from Amnesty International Indonesia were also present at the Press Council Building, Jalan Kebon Sirih, Central Jakarta, Monday (13/6/2022) yesterday. .
The meeting was attended by Deputy Chairman of the Press Council M Agung Dharmajaya, Chairman of the Law and Legislation Commission of the Press Council, Arif Zulkifli, and Ninik Rahayu as Chair of the Commission for Research, Data Collection and Press Ratification.
This meeting was chaired directly by Arif Zulkfili, preceded by a case presentation by Upi Asmaradhana. Apart from offline, this meeting was also attended by lawyers from the South Sulawesi Press Freedom Defending Legal Team, Director of the Jakarta Press LBH and Press Experts from the Press Council.
During the meeting, the Press Council expressed their readiness to provide moral support. The Press Council will also prepare Press Experts for the six defendants’ media in the civil trial at the Makassar District Court, later.
“We have submitted a statement of position and essentially the Press Council will give full attention and support to the Makassar case. The Press Council will also send Press Experts to the trial,” said Upi Asmardhana in a press release received by the Editors, Tuesday (14/6/2022) .
As is known, six media in Makassar City were brought to the Makassar District Court in a civil case.
The six media that were sued were based on online copy of case numbers, namely Antara News, Terkini News, Celebes News, Makassar Today, Makassar News and RRI, with the plaintiff named M. Akbar Amir.
M Akbar Amin’s lawsuit against six media related to the news of the 2016 press conference, where sources in the news questioned M. Akbar Amin’s status as King of Tallo.
On the news, M. Akbar Amin admitted that he had suffered a loss of Rp. 100 trillion due to the cancellation of a number of projects that his party claimed.*****
