Fajarasia.co- Indonesian Foreign Minister Retno Marsudi said President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) would visit Ukraine after completing a series of activities at the G7 Summit in Elmau, Germany. President Jokowi will go to Ukraine via Poland.
“The president will continue his journey to Ukraine via Poland,” said Retno in a press statement broadcast on the Presidential Secretariat’s YouTube, Tuesday (28/6/2022).
Retno said the Ministry of Foreign Affairs also communicated with a number of parties regarding President Jokowi’s planned state visit to Ukraine and Russia.
“And besides that, other communications that I have made include the President of the International Red Cross, with UNOCHA (United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs), the Secretary General of UNCTAD (United Nations Conference on Trade and Development) with the Minister of Foreign Affairs. Turkey, and most recently I had a telephone conversation with the Secretary-General of the United Nations (Antonio Guterres),” he added.
Furthermore, Retno explained that the war situation between Ukraine and Russia was discussed by President Jokowi when he met with a number of Heads of State, members of the G7 and Partner Countries.
“In addition to attending the two sessions at the G7 Summit and partner countries, the President also held around 9 bilateral meetings. Namely, with the Prime Minister of India, the President of France, the Prime Minister of Canada, the Chancellor of Germany, the Prime Minister of Britain, the Prime Minister of Japan, the President of the European Commission, the President of the European Council, and managing director of the IMF,” he explained.
On that occasion, the President highlighted the impact of the Russia-Ukraine war on the world food supply chain.
“In addition to discussing the issue of strengthening bilateral cooperation,” he said.
According to Retno, the President also emphasized the importance of immediately resolving food supply chain disruptions. President Jokowi views that hundreds of millions, even billions of people in the world will feel the impact if the world does not unite to overcome these problems.
“Here, it is very clear that the president is bringing the voice of developing countries which are really affected by the war in Ukraine. Concerns about the food supply chain are very prominent in bilateral discussions,” added Retno.******
