“Because when we deal with it, it’s just ‘Oh yeah, don’t buy it.’ It can’t be. That’s the root of the problem, and we don’t understand it.” ” he said, referring to the treatment of children who allegedly flocked to the streets to be sold. He argued that in order to address social problems, we must address their causes.
Therefore, the Ministry of Social Affairs dispatched a team including psychologists to investigate the root causes of children being trafficked on the streets of Tarakan City.
“Now what the consequences are, for example, is that I need to get special treatment, which means I have to deal with it in a special way,” he said.
“So sometimes he is poor and his children are forced to beg. Well, it’s a poverty that needs to be resolved,” he added. The Tarakan City Women’s Empowerment, Child Protection, Population Control and Family Planning Service (DP3APPKB) previously claimed there were syndicates that exploited children for sale.
The results of her DP3APPKB survey in Tarakan City show that there are coordinators whose job it is to regulate children selling things on the street and parents who order their children to sell things on the street.
