Fajarasia.co – Agriculture Minister Syahrul Yasin Limpo invites all parties including local governments and farmers to participate in anticipating the world food crisis, one of which is increasing domestic food stocks.
“We have to increase food stocks because the threat of a food crisis is imminent,” he said at the commemoration of the 50th National Agricultural Krida Day in 2022 and the IP400 rice harvest activity in Tegal Sari Village, Weru District, Sukoharjo Regency, Central Java, Wednesday.
On the commemoration of Agricultural Krida Day, he also invited all parties to strengthen their determination and enthusiasm for better, advanced, independent, and modern agriculture.
“It is also marked by new ways that are more advanced, more modern, and of higher quality than yesterday’s methods,” he said.
On that occasion, the Minister of Agriculture planted IP400 rice covering an area of 257 ha in Tegal Sari Village. The IP400 Movement was initially implemented in 2021 on an area of 9,834 ha in 23 provinces and 98 regencies/cities in Indonesia.
Furthermore, development will be carried out in 2022 on an area of 150,000 ha in 27 provinces and 169 regencies/cities. Specifically in Sukoharjo Regency, the implementation of the IP400 Movement has been carried out since 2021 on an area of 2,088 ha.
“And in 2022 the development will be 7,912 ha so that the total IP400 Movement in 2022 is 10,000 ha, which will be implemented in 12 sub-districts, 124 villages in Sukoharjo Regency,” he said.
He said the IP400 program is a new way and a new innovation that can be used as motivation for all parties.
“If we plant it only twice (in one year) it’s normal. If it’s three times, you can be appointed as something that continues to advance. But if it’s four times it’s extraordinary,” he said.
On the same occasion, Sukoharjo Regent Etik Suryani said it was not an easy thing to convince farmers to cultivate IP400.
“In this case, we are intensely coordinating directions to the sub-district head and PPL to attract farmers’ interest. Farmers are also expected not to let the land fall apart and optimize it with IP400,” he said.
