Fajarasia.co – Member of the National Commission (Komnas) Against Violence against Women Prof. Alimatul Qibtiyah stated that bullying on social media (medsos) creates tremendous trauma whose impact is ten times that of offline bullying.
“The impact of social media on generations is indeed very large. Bullying cases also occur on social media, and usually starts with uploading personal content which is then shared many times,” said Alimatul in Makassar, Wednesday (22/6/2022).
The Komnas Perempuan member was present in Makassar at a talk show with the theme Efforts to Combat and Prevent Violence against Women and Children held by the South Sulawesi PKK Mobilizing Team in collaboration with the Andalan Qur’an Community in Makassar.
Professor Alimatul said that sexual harassment, pornography, and violence are also common in various forms ranging from writing, voice messages, pictures, and videos.
Therefore, addiction or dependence on the use of digital media or devices, must also be a common concern.
“Everyone has to step in. It’s not just the government’s job, but all elements of society,” he said.
In his presentation, the Professor of Gender Studies also highlighted the high rate of divorce due to domestic violence (KDRT) to child marriage.
Chairman of the South Sulawesi PKK TP Naoemi Octarina said this theme was taken because of the many cases of violence against women and children in society, including in the world of education.
“There are so many cases of bullying and harassment, even in the world of education. We hope there are inputs on what efforts we can do,” said Naoemi.****
