Fajarasia.co – DKI Jakarta DPRD member Hardiyanto Kenneth appealed to the public to remain vigilant regarding the findings of the Omicron BA.4 and BA.5 subvariants in Indonesia.
“I urge the public to continue their activities as usual, there is no need to panic about it, but with a note that they follow the government’s recommendations, especially in terms of strict prokes enforcement,” said Kenneth in a written statement received by the Editor, Monday (13/6/2022).
Previously, Omicron BA.4 and BA.5 subvariants had been detected in Indonesia, namely four cases were reported to have entered Bali, consisting of three foreign nationals (WNA) and one Indonesian citizen (WNI).
Vigilance, continued Kenneth, must be increased considering the positive confirmed cases of the COVID-19 virus in Indonesia increased to 574 cases.
At that time, DKI Jakarta was still at the top of the list of confirmed COVID-19 cases with 314 cases, followed by West Java with 92 cases, and Banten with 71 cases.
The daily infection cases in Jakarta itself, experienced a significant increase in the last four days.
Evidently, on Monday (7/6) it had shown an increase and exceeded the 200 cases, namely 260 cases, then on Wednesday (8/6) there were 288 cases, then on Thursday (9/6) 276 cases, and on Friday (10 /6) daily new cases of COVID-19 increased by 333 cases.
Therefore, Kenneth asked the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government (Pemprov) to take preventive measures so that the COVID-19 subvariants of the Omicron BA.4 and BA.5 variants do not spread.
“Considering the positive number of COVID-19 in Jakarta is increasing day by day to reach hundreds,” he said.***
