Fajarasia.co – Ms. Rohini burst into tears when she met the Chairperson of the Indonesian House of Representatives, Puan Maharani. The resident of Brebes, Central Java was moved because his house has now been repaired through a house renovation program facilitated by Puan.
Puan came to Keuntungan, Brebes, Tuesday (5/7/2022), to check the results of the Self-Help Housing Stimulant Assistance (BSPS) program of the Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR). In 2021, there are 100 houses in Brebes Regency that will receive housing renovation assistance through this program.
One of the beneficiaries of BSPS assistance is Rohini, a widow with 5 children who works odd jobs every day. Rohini previously lived in a house that was unfit for habitation.
Rohini’s house has only wooden and woven walls. The floor is still on the ground. The roof of the house is already porous, so Rohini and her children often feel heatstroke, and rainwater that enters the house due to severe leaks.
After receiving the BSPS program, Rohini’s house is better. The floors have been plastered and the roof and walls have been replaced. Now, Rohini’s house has become a semi-permanent house that is livable with good sanitation and ventilation.
Feeling grateful for the assistance that was realized thanks to Puan’s facilities, Rohini burst into tears. He hugged Puan while crying so hard that he stammered when he spoke.
“Thank you mother for helping. Now my children and I are no longer hot, it’s not raining anymore,” said Rohini sobbing.
“Does your mother know that I facilitated?” asked Puan while rubbing Rohini’s back to calm her down.
“I know, thank you very much,” replied Rohini, who is now the breadwinner for her family.
A number of residents who attended the event seemed to cry because they felt the same gratitude. Haru also covered the members of the DPR and Forkopimda Brebes who were present.
“Alhamdulillah, now you can sleep more soundly at home, ma’am,” said Puan, who also shed tears.
To the recipients of the BSPS in Brebes, Puan hopes that the house renovation program from the Ministry of PUPR can improve their quality of life. In 2022, there are 1,300 housing units in Brebes Regency that have received housing renovation assistance programs.
“Mrs. Rohini is one of the proofs that what is given today is useful. I hope you can find a good house, provide health for your family so that they are physically and mentally healthy,” said the first woman who served as Chair of the Indonesian House of Representatives.
Puan also advised that the money for the house renovation program should be put to good use. He reminded officers to carry out optimal supervision.
“This donation is only for building or repairing houses. Don’t use it for other things,” said Puan.
After greeting the recipients of the BSPS program in Brebes in 2021, Puan toured the villages in the Keuntungan area. On the main streets, many residents stood on the side of the road to welcome the grandson of the Proclaimer of the Republic of Indonesia Bung Karno.
From time to time, Puan seemed to greet the people who were busy welcoming her. There were also screams from residents praying for Mrs.
“Miss president, Miss president,” shouted a number of residents.
Puan then followed the narrow alleys in one of the residential areas. He also checked the house that was being renovated through the 2022 BSPS program.
The former Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture conducted a survey at Rasmun’s house, which is currently in the process of being repaired. Rasmun lives with his children and grandchildren.
“I pray that with this assistance, so that his house can become a good family shelter, a place where families can gather, because family is important,” he said.
“Hopefully what we do through our role in the DPR can be useful for the people,” concluded Puan.******
