Fajarasia.co – Chairman of the Central Executive Board of the Indonesian National Student Movement Alumni Association (PA GMNI) Arief Hidayat invited cadres to increase the narrative of unity and Pancasila values on social media.
“Let’s join together in the GMNI Alumni Association slagorde using social media responsibly. We fill social media with responsible narratives to strengthen national unity and social cohesion of the community,” Arief said in a written statement in Jakarta, Tuesday (24/5/2022) as quoted from Antara.
According to the Constitutional Justice, the current situation faced by the nation has caused concern. If you look at the development of information technology, the disruption of technology actually makes the social cohesion of the community begin to fade.
Professor Arief admits that social media, which is currently growing rapidly, has both positive and negative sides.
“The positive side is that with the existence of social media during the pandemic, we can stay in touch with each other and carry out productive activities, including in supporting trial activities at the Constitutional Court,” he explained.
One thing, according to him, is that social media can also be used to control state policies. This means that the role of social media is able to increase public participation in controlling policies made by the government and state institutions.
However, he said, there is also a bad side to social media if it is used irresponsibly. As experienced in the last few years, a lot of social media content has emerged containing hate speech and fake news.
“This situation occurs because of the spread of information based on false truth or post truth thinking. Social media content begins to contain a lot of false truths or lies that are spread massively and repeatedly so that they become the truth that is accepted by the public,” said the Undip Law Professor.
Therefore, he encouraged GMNI alumni to encourage various narratives through social media that propagated the teachings of unity and tolerance among the nation’s children, as exemplified by the Founding Fathers of the Nation, especially Bung Karno, the ideological father of PA GMNI.
With that, Arief appealed, now is the time for GMNI alumni to spread the narratives of Bung Karno’s teachings starting from families, schools, universities and various levels of society.
Because, according to him, this role is the responsibility of GMNI alumni as nationalists, lovers of peace and deliberation to reach consensus. Moreover, GMNI alumni are widely spread in various professions, both in academia, political parties, culture, government, and professionals.
This was also conveyed by Arief in Halal Bihalal 1443 Hijriah GMNI Alumni Family in Jakarta, Monday (23/5) night. A number of PA GMNI figures were present, including Siswono Yudohusodo, Soekarwo, and Arudji Wahyono.****
