Commission V of the Indonesian House of Representatives Conducts a Specific Working Visit in Central Lombok Regarding the Acceleration of the Development of the Mujur Dam

Fajarasia.co – Commission V DPR RI held a Specific Working Visit related to the construction of the Mujur Dam in Central Lombok, Thursday (30/06/2022). The specific work tour will last until July 2 as part of efforts to accelerate the construction of a dam that has been neglected for four decades.

“This is a form of our commitment to be present in Central Lombok, so that the Lucky Dam construction plan can be implemented,” said Deputy Chairman of Commission V of the Indonesian House of Representatives H. Andi Iwan Darmawan Aras, who directly led the Commission V Special Work Committee.

The Indonesian House of Representatives Commission V delegation was received directly by the Regent of Central Lombok, HL Pathul Bahri. Also receiving were the Chair of the Central Lombok DPRD, M. Tauhid, the Head of the NTB River Basin, representatives of the PUPR Ministry, the Head of the Central Lombok Regional Apparatus Organization, and representatives of the District and Village government elements that will be the location for the Mujur Dam construction.

Andi emphasized that his party’s arrival was in order to accelerate the completion of the construction of this dam. Previously, his party had been active in holding in-depth discussions with the Deputy Chairman of Commission I DPR RI H. Bambang Kristiono, SE (HBK), Member of the DPR RI from the NTB 2/Lombok electoral district, a figure who so far has a strong commitment to fully oversee the construction of the Lucky Dam which never materialized even though it had been planned since 1969.

“We will push for the construction of the Lucky Dam to be included in a national strategic project,” said Andi, who is a Gerindra Party politician, like HBK.

Andi admitted that the Mujur Dam construction process did take time, because it had to go through a number of stages. Usually, he said, dam construction takes 3 to 5 years. Fortunately, the construction of the Mujur Dam previously had a Land Acquisition and Resettlement Action Plan (LARAP) document, which was held in 2015. The dam also has a Detail Engineering Design prepared by the Regional Government. So, currently, the two documents only need to undergo a review process for adjustment. Thus, the document can be the basis for the preparation of the budget needed for the construction of the dam.

“We want to discuss the construction of this dam quickly. So that it can be implemented in 2023,” said Andi.

The land acquisition for the Mujur Dam itself has been carried out by the Central Lombok Regency Government since 2006. However, since then, the land acquisition process has been slow. While the calculation, it takes at least Rp. 800 to Rp. 900 billion for land acquisition excluding relocation needs.

In the meeting it was revealed that the land acquisition was carried out in one village. Currently, it is still in the mediation stage with the landowners. Central Lombok Regent HL Pathul Bahri explained that the community is currently waiting for certainty regarding the price of the land, then when the land will be paid for, and who will pay for the land.

Therefore, Regent Pathul Bahri expressed his gratitude for the commitment of Commission V which is currently fighting for the Lucky Dam to become a national strategic project. With the status of the national strategic project, there will soon be certainty regarding the readiness of the land acquisition budget and infrastructure funds for the construction of this dam.

“The area of agricultural land in Central Lombok reaches 45 thousand hectares and has become a national food barn. The Mujur Dam has a very strategic value to overcome water shortages for agricultural needs and to support the Mandalika special economic zone,” said Regent Pathul.

Director of Dams and Lakes, Directorate General of Natural Resources, Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing, Airlangga Mardjono said that he considered the support from local governments, community leaders and Commission V of the Indonesian House of Representatives to be extraordinary.

“This support inspires us to immediately realize the Lucky Dam,” he said.

The PUPR Ministry at this time has not calculated the total budget for the construction of the Lucky Dam. However, the construction is estimated to be around Rp. 1.6 trillion.

Overall, the Mujur Dam will require an area of 394.92 hectares. Where the area of land that has been measured currently reaches 177.56 hectares. Meanwhile, the area of land that has not been measured is 217.38 hectares.

It is planned that the Mujur Dam will have a water storage capacity of 23.03 million cubic meters with a main dam body length of 2.8 kilometers. The dam will be able to increase the planting intensity of rice fields to 6,181 hectares.

Meanwhile, Member of the Indonesian House of Representatives from the NTB 2/Lombok Island Dapil H. Bambang Kristiono, SE (HBK) expressed his appreciation for the commitment of his colleagues in Commission V of the Indonesian House of Representatives to accelerate the process of building the Lucky Dam.

HBK emphasized that this Lucky Dam is not only for the benefit of the people of Central Lombok. But also for the benefit of the people of Bumi Gora. Therefore, this dam must be realized, because it is part of the effort to support the existence of Lombok Island as one of the National Food Support areas.

“Of course, after this specific working visit from friends of the DPR RI Commission V, there are still processes and a number of stages that must be passed. On behalf of the representatives of the people of Lombok Island in the DPR RI, I will work hard and go all out to oversee the entire process and stages, so that the Lucky Dam, which has been dreamed of by the people in Central Lombok, can actually come true,” said HBK.
