Fajarasia.co – The Indonesian Inter-University Basketball Tournament which was participated by 22 Men’s Teams and 12 Women’s Teams since September 9, 2022 has been held to coincide with the 39th National Sports Day to compete for the Puan Maharani Cup in three places, namely GOR Soemantri Brodjonegoro, Bulungan Basketball GOR, and Gelora Bung Karno Basketball Hall.
The Chairperson of the Indonesian House of Representatives, Puan Maharani closed and appreciated all students who had fought in the Indonesian Inter-University Basketball Tournament Puan Maharani Cup 2022 at the Bung Karno Basketball Hall, Central Jakarta.
“Thank you to all students who have fought in every game from the opening September 9 to the final and closing tonight September 18, on behalf of their respective campuses in the 2022 Puan Maharani Cup Basketball Tournament,” said Puan, in her statement, Sunday (18/9/2022).
The first woman who served as Chair of the Indonesian House of Representatives congratulated the Esa Unggul University Women’s Team who won against Universitas Pelita Harapan with a score of 48-35 and the Men’s Team of Universitas Pelita Harapan who won against Perbanas Institute with a score of 49-37.
Puan hopes that through the 2022 Puan Maharani Cup Basketball Tournament, it can revive basketball championships in Indonesia, especially among campuses that contribute to national basketball achievements and become an arena for the emergence of talented and accomplished young seeds.
“Congratulations to the Men’s Team of Universitas Pelita Harapan and the Women’s Team of Universitas Esa Unggul for the more and more basketball championships being held either nationally (Kejurnas) or regionally (Kejurda) it’s good, especially in campus circles. There are national team and IBL players. This is a place to find and capture talented and accomplished athletes,” he said.
Furthermore, Puan also hopes that the rise of Indonesian basketball achievements marked by the gold medal of the Men’s Basketball National Team at the 31st SEA Games in Vietnam must be maintained and improved.
“There are two World Basketball Championship agendas next year, namely the 32nd SEA Games in Phnom Penh, Cambodia and the 2023 FIBA Basketball World Cup which will be held from August 25 to September 10, 2023 at the Indonesia Arena, Jakarta, Japan and the Philippines. I hope Indonesia can achieve the highest achievement and bring a lot of gold to the SEA Games in Cambodia,” said the former Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture.
Therefore, Puan invites all stakeholders to fully support the development of basketball athletes and all other sports in order to make Indonesia proud internationally.
“Let’s together support the development of athletes and raise the achievements of basketball and Indonesian sports,” added Puan.***
