Fajarasia.co – The Chairperson of the Indonesian House of Representatives, Puan Maharani, closed the Session I of the DPR for the 2022-2023 Session Year. On this occasion, he invited members of the DPR to observe a moment of silence for the victims of the Kanjuruhan Tragedy.
The closing of the DPR session was held at the Plenary Session at the Nusantara II Building, Parliament Complex, Senayan, Jakarta, Tuesday (4/10/2022).
“On the occasion of today’s Plenary Session, the Leaders and Members of the Indonesian House of Representatives expressed their deepest condolences for the tragedy that occurred at the Kanjuruhan Stadium, Malang, East Java after the match between Arema FC and Persebaya Surabaya which left a number of football supporters dead and injured. said Mrs.
There were a total of 448 victims in the Kanjuruhan Tragedy that occurred on October 1 last. The details are 302 people suffered minor injuries, 21 people were seriously injured, and 125 people died.
Puan said the DPR hoped that such an incident would not happen again. He also asked related parties to conduct a thorough evaluation of the organization of football matches and all security procedures.
“We also hope that all people uphold sportsmanship in accepting victory or defeat,” said the first woman who served as Chair of the Indonesian House of Representatives.
Puan then invited members of the DPR who attended the plenary session to pray for the victims. He presided over a moment of silence in the Plenary Meeting room.
“Let us bow our heads and pray according to our respective religions and beliefs. We hope that the spirits of the victims who died will find the best place in the sight of Allah SWT, God Almighty and for those who were injured, they would be given immediate healing and health,” said Puan.
The session of the DPR this time took place from August 16, 2022. After the closing of the session period, the DPR entered a recess period from October 5-31 2022.
According to the former Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture, most of the attention from the DPR RI Council Supplementary Meetings during this trial was focused on the Bill on the State Budget for Fiscal Year 2023 and its financial notes as well as budget plans and expenditures for Ministries/Agencies in the APBN for Fiscal Year 2023. AKD DPR RI, called Puan, also continues to complete other constitutional and duties, namely carrying out the legislative and supervisory functions.
“In the current social and economic recovery, the people are still in a condition that is vulnerable to economic turmoil. Many people are still waiting for the benefits of various national development programs to be felt,” he said.
“People expect to be able to enjoy public services, get economic empowerment, get social protection, and take advantage of infrastructure development. The people’s hope is a mandate for the Indonesian House of Representatives in carrying out the sovereignty of the people,” continued Puan.
He added that it is the duty and responsibility of the policy makers to be able to realize the mandate of people’s sovereignty through the functions of legislation, budgeting, supervision and diplomacy. Puan also mentioned the success of the DPR and the Government in finalizing the Draft Law on the Protection of Personal Data, whose presence has been eagerly awaited.
“The protection of personal data is aimed at guaranteeing the right of citizens to personal protection and raising public awareness and ensuring recognition and respect for the importance of protecting personal data,” he said.
“Through this law, it becomes clear which parties are authorized and responsible for maintaining and protecting citizen data,” continued Puan.
During this trial period, the DPR also approved 2 Bills to become the DPR RI Initiative Proposal, namely the Bill on Maternal and Child Welfare and the Bill on New and Renewable Energy. Puan revealed that the DPR has also received a Presidential Order to conduct discussions on 2 bills, namely the Bill on Maternal and Child Welfare and the Bill on New and Renewable Energy.
“The DPR RI will complete every discussion of the Draft Law, optimally by taking into account the constitutional basis, sociological, economic, political aspects, as well as the aspirations of the people,” he said.
Furthermore, Puan highlighted various global risks that still threaten the resilience of the State Budget and the Indonesian economy. Economic uncertainty and high global risks this year are expected to continue in 2023.
“The dynamics of the global economy in 2023, it is estimated that there will still be a spike in global inflation due to supply disruption, global monetary policy, global economic slowdown, geopolitical conflicts, and the potential for widespread stagflation,” said Puan.
“These global dynamics can bring risks to national economic conditions and the resilience of the state budget as a fiscal instrument that can safeguard the national economy,” he continued.
In anticipating the challenging economic situation and conditions in 2023, the Indonesian House of Representatives together with the Government have completed the discussion and determination of the State Budget for Fiscal Year 2023. Fiscal policy in 2023 will be carried out using all resources to accelerate the post-pandemic structural reform agenda and strengthen the supply side to increase productivity.
“It is the responsibility of the Government to be able to carry out the State Budget for Fiscal Year 2023, as much as possible for the prosperity of the people, so that people feel their lives are getting better and more prosperous,” said Puan.
The DPR also reminded that the State Budget should be managed in an orderly manner, obeying the laws and regulations, efficient, economical, effective, transparent, and accountable by paying attention to a sense of justice and propriety. Puan then mentioned the Government’s policy in adjusting the price of fuel oil (BBM).
“The House of Representatives of the Republic of Indonesia, through the relevant Council Apparatus, also listens and pays great attention to the aspirations of the people who are developing in responding to the increase in the price of fuel oil which is influenced by the global situation and has a major impact on people’s lives,” he said.
Puan emphasized that the DPR, through its supervisory function and related Council Apparatus, will continue to ensure that the Government can anticipate the policy of increasing fuel prices so that the quality of people’s welfare does not decrease. He also reminded that the related House of Representatives House Apparatus should ensure that the policy of increasing fuel prices is always evaluated, especially the impact on the quality of people’s welfare.
“The DPR RI supports the Government to divert the fuel subsidy budget in the form of social assistance for the community so that it can be received effectively and on target,” said Puan.
In addition, the DPR pays attention to various problems that arise in the midst of society. Such as the validity and accuracy of data on recipients of social assistance as compensation for the increase in fuel prices, land issues, especially those related to people’s land and the land mafia.
Then the preparation for the 2024 General Election, hacking of ministry/institutional data, the problem of honorary staff, and the availability of meningitis vaccine. Furthermore, said Puan, regarding the implementation of the decreased booster vaccination and support for the use of domestically made Covid-19 vaccines, namely Indovac and Inavac for booster vaccines.
“The DPR through the Council’s Apparatus has held meetings with business partners to follow up on these problems in order to protect the people, promote people’s welfare, and implement the principle of checks and balances against the government,” he explained.
The grandson of the Proclaimer of the Republic of Indonesia Bung Karno also invited all members of the council to attend and participate in the Parliamentary Speakers Summit (P20) Summit which will be held at the Indonesian Parliament Building on 5-7 October 2022. According to Puan, as many as 20 countries with the largest economy has confirmed the presence of its delegates to attend the P20.
“Parliamentary Speakers Summit (P20) is a momentum of foreign policy diplomacy for the Indonesian Parliament in fighting for national interests as well as providing impetus for initiative ideas and commitments to discuss the G20 meeting which will be implemented,” he said.
“This is an opportunity for us to build international cooperation and participate in determining the direction of recovery globally,” added Puan.
The power of the P20 parliament that represents the global community is referred to as legitimacy in conveying the aspirations of the global community and legitimacy for the Government’s efforts in post-pandemic recovery and responding to current global challenges. Puan said this could save the social and economic life of the global community for the better.
