Fajarasia.co – China’s food industry recorded steady growth in terms of production and sales during the first five months of 2022, data from China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology shows.
Value-added industrial output in the agriculture and sideline food processing sector rose 4.1 percent from a year earlier (yoy) during the period, while the food manufacturing sector increased 4.3 percent (yoy), according to the ministry.
The pure tea, beverage and alcohol manufacturing sector posted a surge in industrial value added by 8.8 percent (yoy).
During the January-May period this year, retail sales of grain, oil, and food totaled 593.6 billion yuan (1 yuan = IDR 2,211), up 9.5 percent (yoy). Retail sales of beverages rose 10.4 percent, while retail sales of tobacco and alcohol increased 7.8 percent.***
