Fajarasia.co – Chairperson of the Indonesian House of Representatives Puan Maharani who is also the Chairperson of the PDI-P DPP will hold a working visit on the island of Lombok. The first woman to lead the DPR RI will be in touch with TGH Turmudzi Badarudin, a charismatic cleric from Nahdlatul Ulama. In addition, he will also visit the market to greet traders closely and have a dialogue with the chancellors of public and private universities in NTB.
Puan is scheduled to arrive in Mataram on Saturday (27/8/2022) morning with a flight from Jakarta. Chairman of the DPD PDI Perjuangan NTB H Rachmat Hidayat who is also a member of the Indonesian House of Representatives said that from the airport Puan would immediately visit Mandalika Market to have a dialogue with the traders there as well as check the prices of various basic needs.
“The dynamics in the market are a reflection of the regional economic situation. Mbak Puan will visit and greet the traders closely and then get first-hand information on how the real economic recovery situation in the midst of the pandemic is,” said Rachmat.
In addition to dialogue and absorbing information, while at the Mandalika Market, the daughter of the 5th President of the Republic of Indonesia Hj Megawati Soekarnoputri is also said to be shopping directly for a number of needs.
From the Mandalika Market, Puan will then hold a dialogue with the rectors of state universities and private universities in NTB. The dialogue will be held in a relaxed manner while having lunch together with a typical menu from Bumi Gora.
After the Duhur prayer, Puan will then leave for the residence of the charismatic kiai Nahdlatul Ulama TGH Turmudzi Badruddin, in Bagu, Peringgarata, Central Lombok. This visit, said Rachmat, was because Puan wanted to continue to build friendships with the community and imitate what the Proclaimer of Indonesian Independence, Soekarno and other Nahdlatul Ulama figures, had done.
“Mbak Puan on many occasions has always emphasized that building the Indonesian nation cannot be done without working together. Therefore, Ms. Puan is sowan and keeps in touch with kiai, ulama, and community members,” added the Member of Commission VII DPR RI.
Rachmat said, it has become a tradition, how long ago Bung Karno had a close relationship with the PBNU Rais Akbar KH Hasyim Asy’ari. Then, the close relationship was continued by the General Chair of the PDI-P DPP Megawati Soekarnoputri with KH Abdurrahman Wahid (Gus Dur) who had served as chairman of the PBNU and the fourth President of the Republic of Indonesia.
“Mbak Puan as Bung Karno’s grandson wants to continue the close relationship,” said Rachmat.
TGH Turmudzi Badarudin himself is the leader of the Qomarul Huda Islamic Boarding School, one of the well-known Islamic boarding schools in NTB which has a great history of Islamic moderation and Indonesian democracy. It was at this Pones that the Nahdlatul Ulama National Conference of Alim Ulama was held on 17-20 November 1997. One of the recommendations of the National Conference was about the position of women in Islam.
The alim ulama congress also ended a long debate about women’s leadership in Islam. The National Conference affirmed equality between men and women in Islam and also recognized certain advantages in women as leaders.
Prior to Puan’s visit this weekend, at the end of last July, the Chairperson of the PDI-P DPP who is also the Deputy Chair of the Indonesian People’s Consultative Assembly, Ahmad Basarah, was sent to TGH Turmudzi. During the meeting, it was revealed how during his life history, Tuan Guru Bagu had continued his religious education phase at the Grand Mosque, Makkah, Saudi Arabia, for six years and became one of the scholars who most supported the decisions of the National Conference, including regarding the leadership of women in Islam.
During the meeting, Basarah, who was directly sent by the General Chair of the PDI-P, Hj Megawati Soekarnoputri, to stay in touch, as well as to discuss national and Islamic issues. Starting from the topic of Pancasila to the future leadership of Indonesia. To Basarah who is also a lecturer at the Islamic University of Malang, Tuan Guru Turmudzi conveyed three verses of the Koran in Surah Al-Naml, namely verse 22, verse 23, and verse 24, which tells about women’s leadership. These three verses also became a reference for the acceptance of Hj Megawati Soekarnoputri as President of the Republic of Indonesia in 2001-2003.
Before heading back to Jakarta, from the residence of Tuan Guru Bagu, Puan Maharani was scheduled to visit the PDI-P NTB DPD Office on South Ring Road, Mataram City. There, there were already 1,300 cadres, administrators, and sympathizers of the PDI-P who wanted to express their aspirations directly.
In addition to accepting aspirations, Puan will also symbolically hand over basic food assistance to underprivileged communities, as well as wheelchair assistance for people with disabilities from NTB.
During a working visit to the Thousand Mosques Island, Puan plans to be accompanied by PDI-P DPP functionaries. Including a number of PDI-P cadres who sit in the DPR RI.***
