Fajarasia.co- Bayern Munich has officially parted ways with Robert Lewandowski, after reaching a transfer agreement with Barcelona. However, they still refuse to sign Cristiano Ronaldo in the transfer market this summer.
Many assume that Lewandowski’s departure will pave the way for Ronaldo to move to Bayern as a replacement for the Polish striker. However, that does not mean they will sign Cristiano Ronaldo.
Bayern sporting director Hasan Salihamidzic told Sport1 about the Ronaldo rumors that continue to be linked with his team. There was a great opportunity for the Bavarians to sign Ronaldo this summer, but they chose to pass it up.
“I have great respect for Cristiano Ronaldo, for his success and career. But then again, that [rumors] have never been a problem for us, then and now,” he was quoted as saying on the Sport1 page, Sunday (17/7/2022).
To date, five-time Ballon d’Or winner Ronaldo is said to have wanted to leave United to fulfill his desire to play in the Champions League and compete for the title in the 2022/23 season. However, Bayern Munich confirmed that they were not interested in signing the Portuguese superstar.
The German giants are set to start a new chapter at the club without the prolific Lewandowski, with the striker having spent eight memorable years with them.
He has won the Bundesliga title every season of his Bayern career, while also helping the Bavarians win the Champions League in 2019/20.
Lewandowski scored 344 goals in 375 appearances for the club, with Ronaldo and Lionel Messi the only players to achieve this.
There is an opportunity for them to sign Ronaldo, but Bayern are satisfied with the composition of their current squad. They have signed Sadio Mane from Liverpool this summer, while Serge Gnabry is almost certain to sign a new contract.
Bayern also have the likes of Leroy Sane, Kingsley Coman and Thomas Muller, who show that they will not be short of good ammunition up front.****
