After the Corruption Eradication Commission, the Attorney General's Office has now officially named the former president director of Garuda, Emirsyah Satar, as a suspect in corruption

Realitarakyat.com – The Special Criminal Investigation Team of the Attorney General’s Office (AGO), has named former Garuda Indonesia President Director Emirsyah Satar as a new suspect in the alleged corruption case against aircraft procurement at PT Garuda Indonesia (Persero) Tbk. 2011-2021, which cost the state around Rp. 8.8 trillion.

Apart from Emirsyah, the AGO has also named the Director of PT Mugi Rekso Abadi with the initials SS as a suspect in this case.

“We have named a new suspect since Monday, June 27 2022, namely ES (Emirsyah Satar) as the President Director of PT Garuda. The second is SS as the Director of PT Mugi Rekso Abadi,” said Attorney General ST Burhanuddin, during a press conference at the Kartika Adhyaksa Tower Building, Monday (27/6/2022).

Burhanuddin said that although Emirsyah was also involved in a bribery case at the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK), Emirsyah’s determination in this case was different from the case investigated by the KPK.

“This is not the same case or ne bis in idem (people should not be prosecuted again because of the actions (events) that have been decided by the judge) with the ES case handled by the KPK,” he stressed.

According to him, ES and SS were named as new suspects in the alleged corruption case of leasing the ATR 72-600 aircraft at PT Garuda Indonesia.

“The suspects are suspected of Article 2 paragraph 1 or Article 3 of Law Number 31 of 1999 concerning Eradication of Criminal Acts of Corruption in conjunction with Law Number 20 of 2001 concerning Amendments to Law Number 31 of 1999 concerning Eradication of Criminal Acts of Corruption in conjunction with Article 55 paragraph 1 to 1 of the Criminal Code,” he said.

Meanwhile, the Minister of State-Owned Enterprises (BUMN) Erick Thohir appreciated the move by the Attorney General’s Office to appoint two new suspects in the corruption case of the purchase of aircraft by PT Garuda Indonesia.

“This is proof of how if we want to collaborate well with fellow government institutions and of course managed professionally and transparently, we can produce something good for this country and nation,” said Erick Tohir.

Erick said that the ‘Cleaning-up BUMN’ program is not only about arresting individuals, but also improving the existing system in BUMN and the Ministry of BUMN.

“Because we know that when we talk about corruption, it happens every year. But the most important thing is how we minimize it with an improved system so that it can run continuously in the long term, and this program is not just an arrest program but how this program can save, restructure, and a solution. which is good for all of us,” he explained. ****
