The beer ad appeared in one of the e-commerce sites. The ad is in the form of a digital poster with a photo of the Formula E car and the beer brand.
“Buy 2 cartons of Heineken 320ml & get tickets for the Jakarta e-Prix 2022 grandstand worth Rp. 750 thousand,” reads the translation of the contents of the English advertisement as seen on Sunday (29/5/2022).
Confirmed separately, the Chief Executive of Formula E Ahmad Sahroni said that his party did not know about the beer advertisement. He made sure that during the Jakarta Formula E race there were no beer sales.
“We don’t understand that there is such a thing and we, the committee, have explained that there will be no advertisements, let alone beer at the event. But if there are advertisements circulating, I make sure they are not from us,” said Sahroni.
Beer Brand Global Sponsorship Question
Heineken is one of the global sponsors of Formula E Jakarta brought by FEO. Sahroni said the sponsors listed on the official website were not domestic sponsors, but global sponsors from FEO or Formula E Operation.
“It’s true, it’s the sponsor of the Global Formula E Operation, not a domestic affair,” said Sahroni, Wednesday (25/5).
There are at least four categories of global sponsors for Formula E, namely main sponsors, global sponsors, technical sponsors, and partners. Sponsor consists of a number of companies. These include beer company Heineken, wine company Moët & Chandon, luxury watch company TAG Heuher and courier service company DHL.
Other companies include BOSS, Antofagasta PLC, Enel X Way, Copper.co, Bosch, Allianz, and the airline company Saudia. As for domestic sponsors, the committee will announce in the near future.
Make sure there is no beer sale
Sahroni ensured that there would be no beer sales or beer logo installation at the Formula E Jakarta event. This was decided after negotiations with Formula E Operation (FEO).
“It should be emphasized that there is no sale of beer and beer company logos at the Jakarta E-Prix. In addition, it should also be noted that Heineken is a global sponsor of FEO, which is present in all Formula E racing series in various cities, including in Diriyah, Saudi Arabia, “Sahroni told reporters on Friday (27/5).
Sahroni also emphasized that there would be no use of alcoholic champagne during the presentation of the winners of the Formula E Jakarta event. In addition, the logo of the Dutch beer company will be replaced with the tagline ‘When you drive, never drink’.

FEO, said Sahroni, respects the values of the people in the country hosting Formula E. It is said that FEO will make adjustments to the local culture of the Formula E host country.
