37.7% of Indonesia's Territory Enters the Dry Season, BMKG: Beware of the Impact of Drought

Fajarasia.co – The Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) reports that currently 37.7% of the Seasonal Zone (ZOM) in Indonesia has entered the dry season.

“Currently, about 37.7% of the total ZOM (Seasonal Zone) in Indonesia has experienced the dry season and 1 area has not experienced rain for more than 2 months. Beware of the impact of lack of rain!” BMKG wrote in its official statement quoted by the Editor, Tuesday (5/7/2022).

BMKG monitored 3,707 rain observation posts, where the areas that experienced the most extreme drought were 1 location (0.03%), very long dry season in 1 location (0.03%), long dry season in 15 locations (0.40%).

Then, the medium was in 167 locations (4.50%), the short dry season was 190 locations (5.13%). Very short drought occurred in 2087 locations (56.30%), and there was still rain in 1246 locations (33.61%).

The BMKG said areas experiencing the dry season include northern and eastern Aceh, northern Sumatra, parts of Riau, northern coast of Banten, northern coast of West Java, parts of Central Java, parts of East Java.

Then Bali, most of NTB, most of NTT, part of South Sulawesi, part of West Sulawesi, western part of Central Sulawesi, southern part of North Sulawesi, northern part of West Papua, and part of Papua.

“The area that has not experienced rain for a long time is in the extreme long category, namely NTT Rambangaru – East Sumba (93 days),” said the BMKG.

The BMKG also appealed to the public to be aware of the effects of drought due to drought which has begun to be experienced by some parts of Indonesia.

“Save and use water wisely. So that the impact of drought caused by drought we can face together,” the BMKG appealed.****
